Looking for the not-so-secret personal care tips around hemorrhoid cream for wrinkles and acne? Unfortunately for you, this week we’re taking a break from our usual blog content to tell you when NOT to use hemorrhoid cream.
Half of adults in the U.S. will deal with hemorrhoids by the time they celebrate their 50th birthday. That said, plenty of Americans probably have a tube of hemorrhoid cream in their medicine cabinet in the event they fall into that demographic. Just because you have it around doesn’t mean you should put it on your face. You may have noticed the other unorthodox uses for hemorrhoid cream floating around the internet. Today we’ll be debunking these uses.
Hemorrhoid cream for dark circles or wrinkles
Because one of hemorrhoid creams major jobs is to stop swelling and inflammation, there are some out there that believe it can be used to treat issues on the face in the same manner. If you’re considering applying cream to combat the appearance of dark circles under your eyes or wrinkles on your face, just don’t. The ingredients in these creams can burn and irritate the eyes, and might even do major damage if you get too close.
Can it reduce the appearance of acne?
Some beauty enthusiasts also believe that this cream can be used to reduce swelling and redness associated with pimples and breakouts. The ingredients in the cream aren’t meant for acne applications and can even clog pores more, leading to more pimples. It’s best to stick with traditional acne treatments widely available in stores.
Tighten and tone muscles with hemorrhoid cream
Hemorrhoid cream works by decreasing swelling in affected tissue. Bodybuilders sometimes use it to exploit that function and to decrease the amount of fluid in certain parts of their body. The theory is that application of the cream makes the skin appear tighter and their muscles more pronounced. Using hemorrhoid cream in broad applications on your skin is not the medicine’s intended purpose and it could even cause your blood pressure to rise to dangerous levels.
A dab of hemorrhoid cream on your cold sore
Pain, burning, and itching are all common symptoms associated with cold sores. And chances are if you’re suffering from one, you’ll do whatever it takes to make it go away. While hemorrhoid cream can help to stop the pain and itching associated with the sore, it won’t make them go away any faster, it doesn’t help prevent the transmission of the herpes virus to someone else, and it won’t keep cold sores from returning soon.
