If you decide to incorporate these essential oils into your self-care routine, but be sure to speak to your doctor or proctologists before trying any of the following treatment methods.

What Essential Oil Helps with Hemorrhoids?

Not all essential oils you can grab off the shelf of your local grocery or drugstore will help with your hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are primarily caused by the swelling of blood vessels, which is why essentials oils that have inflammatory properties, can help to treat your condition.

Some of the main essential oils that have been reported to bring relief to hemorrhoid pain include:

Before Using Essential Oils for Hemorrhoids

Before trying to use essential oils on your hemorrhoids, it is always best and advised to first speak with your doctor before attempting any form of DIY treatment. Essential oils are best used as a topical remedy and should not ever be used to treat internal hemorrhoids unless specifically advised by a doctor.

Before use, essential oils should be diluted in a carrier oil, such as almond, olive, or another topical specific oil, before use. Do proper research on the brands and essential oil products you decide to purchase as these oils are not monitored by the FDA.

Chamomile Tea Oil

Chamomile Oil for Hemorrhoids

You may experience the most discomfort when you’re trying to use the bathroom. It’s not uncommon for people to experience swelling of the hemorrhoids after taking a bowel movement. If that’s something you’re experiencing most of the time, consider using a blend of chamomile essential oil to reduce the swelling. Simply grab a cotton ball or cotton swab and add a few drops of the chamomile essential oil to it. After wiping and rinsing the area to ensure it’s clean, apply the oil on the hemorrhoid. You may soon start to feel relief as the swelling begins to subside.

Tea Tree Oil for Hemorrhoids

Tea tree oil is another great essential oil to use when trying to treat hemorrhoids because it eases the pain and discomfort while reducing inflammation. It’s often used on acne blemishes to get the swelling to go down, and it works just as good on hemorrhoids. If you’re unable to find chamomile essential oil or if you’d simply prefer to try something else, the tea tree oil is a great option. You’d apply it the same way you’d apply the chamomile essential oil using a cotton swab or cotton ball. There are a lot of people who end up with hemorrhoids at some point in time. The hemorrhoids may develop due to constipation, weight gain, excessive lifting, and straining. If you’re dealing with hemorrhoids and are tired of the discomfort and swelling, you might want to try some natural ointments that are known to help out big time. Witch hazel, chamomile essential oil, and tea tree oil are just three of the natural ointments worth using if you’d like to reduce swelling and possibly get rid of those hemorrhoids for good.

Frankincense Oil for Hemorrhoids

What has been known as a healing essential oil for ages, the benefits of frankincense oil are numerous. Frankincense has been used to treat pain and inflammation. Frankincense oil helps to calm inflammation, and also can kill specific types of bacteria that may cause an infection. Frankincense can be diluted with liquid lanolin and other carrier oils like coconut oil before being applied to the hemorrhoid.

Clove Oil for Hemorrhoids

Another essential oil that can be used to help with hemorrhoid issues is clove essential oil. Those interested in using clove essential oil can find the remedy by purchasing from a natural health food store or online. Some creams are sold with clove oil already mixed in as an ingredient, but some may find it better to purchase clove oil in its pure form, then have it mixed with a cream before applying it to hemorrhoids.

For those who suffer from severe or chronic anal fissures and hemorrhoids, clove essential oil has been shown to improve anal pressure, and therefore alleviate symptoms. However, be warned that this oil can be irritating for some with sensitive skin.
